Default Tire weight?

I was over at the DSM forums (I know, I know - I was doing some research for a friend) and the topic of tire weight came up. Apparently, though I never gave it much thought myself, two identical sized tires can vary quite a bit in weight. That being said, does anyone know of some particularly lightweight 15" tires? Or for that matter, does anyone know of some extra-heavy ones to stay away from? It's a long shot I know, but I figured I'd ask.

Unfortunately, alot of the characteristics that make a tire good for performance (stiff sidewall being the main example) usually make it weigh more. Some companies post the weights of their tires, if you poke around their websites...i put some 16 inch 215/40 Pirelli P7000s on my volks, they were advertised as being light, and i'd have to say they are decently light for the width etc. My kumho V700s weigh a ton by comparison, but, they stick like...well....race tires. If weight is a major concern to you, i'd make a short list of the tires you want, and find out what they weigh by calling their manufactuers, etc...or, if you can, weigh unmounted examples if you can find them.

I think the Falken Azenis and Toyo Proxes T1-S are pretty light...Bridgestone SO-3s are heavier...

falken lists the weight of their azenis tires for the various sizes here http://www.falkentire.com/html/produ.../tirespecs.htm

apparently, not too light....

[edit]...there used to be weights on that list...I just double checked and they must have removed it...

would you happen to have the weight of the 215-45-16 size? I remember it is around 28, but since you have the other weights...also, could you email me the chart if you have it? thanks
