Default A question for somone with a Motive Power Bleeder System...

Of the different systems at http://www.motiveproducts.com/ordernow_bleeders.htm , I see the Universal kit is the one that is recommended for Hondas. Does the cap attach to the reservoir with the J-bolts and the wingnuts, or is there a regular cap that fits on the reservoir like there appears to be for the Euro model? If not, how well does the universal cap work?

I was considering purchasing this unit soon, but wasn't sure how well it works...

Thanks,

-Floyd

I use the universal cap. Only gotcha is that you must do as the instructions say on the bottle. Screw it on with the J-bolts and tighten it down. Pressurize the bottle and listen for leaks and watch the pressure gauge. If it's leaking, then tighten it down some more. Once it's all set, then put brake fluid in the bottle. Don't go over 20 psi.

If you wanna be fancy, buy a spare reservoir cap from the dealer, drill it out and put a plumbing barb on it. Me? I just use the universal. If you screw up and don't have the universal cap on tight, you'll get brake fluid all over the place. Just get a bottle of soapy water and spray that area down real well. Gee... I wonder how I know that...

Wouldn't it be worth it to just be able to screw on a modified cap and go? Will a modified cap hold 20 psi?

Thanks for the info.

A modified OEM cap will not work because it is only a half-turn cap, hence the chances of it sealing properly up to 15psi is very remote. The European cars use a screw on cap style for the master cylinder reservoir which will hold up to 15psi easily. The same goes fot the master cylinders from Tilton, etc.

BTW, it is generally recommended to go only go to 15psi.
