Default Did a tune up on d16a6 and now its lot quieter and seems a bit faster?

K I pulled the bosch spark plugs out and cheap spark plug wires off and threw in some ngk spark plugs and ngk wires and now the car seems alot quieter? It also pulls way harder....the plugs were really burnt up. I pulled 14.8 last time. I'm wondering why it seems so quieter now? I'm going to the track tomorrow to think to see if this stock d16a6 can hit 14.6 on slicks. Does anyone have any ideas why its quieter after spark plugs?

a tune up is good for the car of course and will make the timing more efficient but it is not going to give you any power gains that the car did'nt already have. it feels better because the fuel is being burned cleaner, hence the quieter and stronger pull.

acually, the ngk copper plugs probably helped a lot. i put bosch in my accord for 2 weeks and it ran like ***. took them back to autozone and got the NGKs. not a problem since, and that was 2 years ago.

agreed. bad plugs and wires CAN rob HP. it's quite possible you didn't GAIN any power, just got back power you had lost due to bad spark.

thats what i mean but wtf the car is quieter? It was loud. I just was thinking maybe at higher end i was having mis fires? Now its alot smoother. Just thought it was odd because it felt strong and now its not that its faster but the response is faster...i dont mean i gained like 10 hp or something it just responds better and its smoother...guess ngks just kick ***.

Its called spark knock, the old plugs were prob. so used up and carboned up that fuel was soaking into them creating a louder burn(combustion).

With new plugs in there the fuel is ignited when it is supposed to and burns way better creating less spark knock and better fuel assumption and overall better combustion.

I was goin to say that maybe its the spark plug not lighting the rest of the fuel. Then when u are in higher rpms, the fuel lights up and u think u create more hp or power.
