The exhaust gasket should always be replaced when removing the exhaust manifold. Its metal just like headgaskets. One shot only, I would replace the gasket and see if you still have the problem.
Its probably just your valves that youre hearing. Is it rhythmic/steady?
The stock header is a lot heavier and dampens sounds a lot better than thinner aftermarket units.
I'd still replace the gasket, since you shouldve done that anyway (and clean the head's surface of debris)...but dont be surprised if the sound doesnt go away

One shot? I have reuse MANY times without a problem. We are talking like 20 times on the same gasket. Not saying that is not problem, because it sounds like he has a exhaust leak.
Recheck all you bolts to see if they are tight and check for leaks.

The bolts are as tight as they can possibly be. Today I replaced the gaskets but the ticking is still there. I'm going to take the car in to adjust the valves. I'll let you guys know.
That is just the sound of the exhaust on a thin walled manifold. Its just the way the motor sounds, but the stock exhaust manifold dampens the sound more than an aftermarket piece.

Yeah I'm sure you COULD re-use the exhaust gasket a hundred times. I am personally OCD when it comes to my car. So if the factory service manual says replace, I replace, thats all. I know at times I am probably throwing my money away but **** it. I would much rather **** my car up because of a stupid mistake or lack of knowledge opposed to not following directions. Thats just me though.
