y5 mini me in EH

I'm getting a y5 head really cheap to swap on my my y7 in EH. Would it run fine running off a P28? Wiring is no problem being my EH is a 92 and already wired for vtec. How much of a difference is there using just the head from a y8 to y5 performancewise besides the y5 with the roller rockers? The setup is just NA for now and maybe boosted in next couple months.
From what I have gathered......the HX has a different type of ECU. I forgot what someone called it (they may have called it run lean or some ****) I was going to run a P28 as well and get some form of engine management but I was told the car would run like crap. Plus you would have to set the VTEC crossover to 2K RPM. You can be a test dummy for us. I am really curious.

Here ya go...a little more info
NEVERMIND. I thought it was posted in there and I just read through and couldnt find anything but it is HERE. I know it. If you have the mini-me and a P28, just try it out and see what happens. I REALLY want to know...I want to switch to hondata or uberdata.

i think if u hook up a p28 to the y5 it would run like crap. reason being is that u will run on 8 valvle till about 5grand when regular vtec kicks in. id say get a p2n ecu. try asking spade about this. there was a topic about this before and the kid got flamed on.

What is P2N...OBD1 VX ecu?? Or is that the OBDII HX

yea in imo i think this is not the best setup. just get a z6/y8 head and then run the pe8. since your car is obd1 that way you wont have to do anything extra other than the usual like vtec. Just make sure you do it properly.

you could also run a p2p (ex civic) ecu. that way you willl run on all 16 valves. then get a vafc and put the vtec down to like 4k and start hauling some a$$. Do a search on different setups. there are alot of combos.
Are you asking this question for OBD reasons. Instead of going OBDII, use a P28 to be ODBI?? I aks because I had another thought. If the VX (D15Z1) and HX (D16Y5) are the same set up (VTEC-E) then couldnt the OBDII guys use the VX ECU to get the best of both worlds. OBDI AND having a VTEC-E ECU

Naw, I didn't buy it yet. I was actually gonna trade a dualcore radiator for it thats just sitting in my garage that I used only once. But after seeing the hassle that I'll have to do to get it to actually run right, I'll just pass. I still have my ITB for a SOHC and maybe pick up a new engine instead of the y5 head. Even if the vx ecu is a vtec-e ecu, would the vtec not kick in till later though being it's not a roller rocker setup like the y5 and then I'd have to wire up the 5 wire o2 sensor. Once again the HX gets the cold shoulder and pushed aside for someone else to figure out.
the only ecu that will work with a y5 head is the hx computer. The hx has roller rockers arms which is a plus for higher revs. The cam is totally different than that of an ex. IMO I feel like you can get decent power out of a y5 if you know what your doing and build it right. Being an economy model there isn't much support in the aftermarket industry to support it so you would be pretty much on your own.
on another note...I got raped today by a B16 with some work done.....LOL
The VX didnt have roller rockers too??? Also the VX is a 5 wire O2 I believe???
