ok im about to finish up my mini me build i have a d15b2 bottom end bored 20 over with a z6 head port matched intake manifold full exhaust and intake i had one mini me before and vtec never worked i wired it up to my p28 ecu and im not sure if i should do that this time or get a vtec controller. can someone tell me what is the better way to go

do it the right way, and use a p28.

thats what i had in it last time but it never hit vtec i tryed my friends poa from a sohc vtec f22 and it hit vtec but it never did with my p28

Then something was wrong with your setup. a p28 is the most correct ecu for that head/block combo, short of having it tuned.
