Default What is everyones timing set at on H22a swaps

I am trying to find a good medium for my timing, for a daily driver. I want to see where everyone else has theres set? How much advanced or how much retarded?
Thanks

14-17 degrees is what is reccomended by Honda and Smog Laws of a H22

I usually set H22's to 15 degrees on a stock motor

from what i've seen on the dyno, h22s, like alot of timing, i have gone as far as 22deg BTDC, but that was dyno tuned, so i dont suggest you run it that far.

I would stick it at 17, and u will be safe, and pick up some low end.

Mine's at 15 degrees.

I will eventually bump it up a few more.

allright sounds good. Would a weird metallic noise at start up be a symptom of the motor being timed incorrectly? Or out of specs?

I just replaced the distributor and there is a metallic noise on start up, could this be a faulty distributor or installed incorrectly?

thanks

when you say metallic noise, do you mean like a pinging sound?
if so, your timing might be too far advanced. do you have a timing gun?

no its not a pinging noise, I have a durango 5.9L believe me I know wht a ping sounds like ( dodge sucks ).

It sound like two metals tapping eachother, for the first few minutes of warming up. after that it goes away.
