how to choose CR for piston?
how do you guys choose what CR of your piston best suits you?
im replacing my ctr pistons in my b16a2 with s2s1 cams, what aftermarket piston and CR would you suggest? i prefer 81.5 or the most 82mm, im not really a fan of reboring..thanks!

ur going to replace your ctr pistons with s2s1 cams? im not exactly sure what u are talking about. u cannot remove the piston and subsitute a cam in. try Wiseco or je pistons
Give the guy a break. He forgot some punctuation. My goodness. It's a wonder new people ever come back to this site. They are scared of public humiliation.
I believe he is saying that he is replacing the CTR pistons in his B16 block that is equipped with a head that has skunk2 stage 1 cams in it.
Most piston manufacturers have determined compresion ratio for many different applications. Call JE or whoeever and tell them the bore size you will have, the stroke of your crank if different than stock, and the CC's of your head. They will make a piston or have a shelf piston that will meet your criteria.
Welcome to HT. By the way. Just try and be a little more clear in your posts or you will obviously be lambasted.

The type of camshaft you're running will determine how high of a compression you need.
That's why when people ask me, what should I buy first. I tell them to save their money and find out what camshafts they want. Research it and buy components that compliments the camshaft to it's full potential.
I'm no super engine guru, but that knowlege is so basic to any NA builder.

or the compression you run will determine what cams you need. im not an engine builder either but when i do build my motor, i know i want to run 11.1-11.5 compression. so my cam choice will be based on that compression. for tuning and safety reasons. but dont turn this into a "whats the highest compression i can run" thread. thanx

use some common sense dude! i guess common sense in not so common with you huh
i've been using ctr pistons for about 5 months now and im a bit short of its power...idont wanna replace my cam (s2s1), though im planning to change my piston to aftermarket...does ibspec probe 12.5:1 81.5mm be a good match? or ibspec wiseco 12.1:1? (the CR is a rated at b18c crank according to their site, so it around 11.5:1 and 11.1:1 @ b16)
