Default Chickengun Racing

Anyone else not realize that N*SC*R was at Infineon this weekend, and forget to load up our road racing ringers?

Of course, I just watched Boris' qualifying lap, and it wasn't very good. Hopefully he'll do better on Sunday. What's up with the no cool down lap? They cross S/F and make an immediate left into the paddock.

I missed that too.
I'll have some ringers in for the race though.

I've been watching the qualifying and I have to say that this would have to be the one time I truly enjoy watching NASCAR. They keep talking about adding more road racing courses to their schedule... I think that would be great for them. There was a poll on Speed where 70% of the people would like to see more road racing... I think folks are getting bored with drive hard turn left routine

What I like about the road courses is that the playing-field gets tossed up a bit, and allows some other drivers to shine. It was also surprising to me how many different racing lines there were. Some of the drivers were more experienced on a road-course course than the others, and it seemed very obvious. Lots of overdriving in the corners, too- go figure!

Ya think Some of the drivers were just down right sloppy through there. You can't really blame them though, they're used to ovals with consistent banked turns and not all of the elevations etc. and there crews are used to the same for prepping chassis. Some of those guys were just bunny hopping the curbs... it was funny as hell.

The drivers with roots in road racing shined while the rest looked like a bunch of rookies. Kasey Kahne was interviewed after the race and openly admitted that he was horrible on the track. He said he started out jumping all the curbs and was slow so then he tried the slow and smooth approach through the turns like Gordon but was still slow so he went back to "hitting the curbs hard and jumping them the rest of the race"

But let's not ignore the fact that Jeffy ate everyone's lunch. A job well done by Jamie McMurray, too - even though Pruitt was obviously playing a supporting role at the end.

I like the comment that Tony Stewart has suggested that Cup run as many dirt tracks as road courses. That would rock.

It saddens me that it only seems the top 5 of us in the league are still playing. I forget to choose after qualifying sometimes (if i'm at the rtack t hat weekend or something), but most people are just gone completely

I had J. Gordon and McMurray. If I had remembered they were at a road course this weekend I would have had Pruitt and Said in there as well.
Dammit.

But yeah, Jeff proved yet again that he is a "driver." Ovals, road courses, dirt, whatever... Pruitt was in a Target car with a top crew and still had nothing for him.

Finally... I'd watch 3 hours of Boris' in-car from one of these races. He never has a top car or a top crew, so every time its the same thing.... Start at around P20 and move up to P5... Pit... Drop back to P20 and move back up to P5... Pit... Drop back to P20...
Every single time. In his case it *is* nothing but driver
