Default Anyone here use a GTECH ???

I wanted to know if anyone has used or knows anyone thats used one?? are they any good?? how accurate are they?? I know on a dyno that the shops used 4th gear for testing as the tranny and motor are 1 to 1 in 4th gear. so hows the GTEC work?? Will i get a true horsepower reading in 1st and 2nd?? any help would be great. thanks

Its close but it all depends on if you on level ground and if you have everything perfect. Atleast on the version i have (the first version). If you find a perfect place then yeah in a perfect world. It will give you a close estimate. Just think you could be .3 - .5 seconds faster or slower. But only true way to find stuff out is at dyno or a track.

But why is it junk? Im curious about this too. I know it wont be the most exact instrument in the world but if it will give you numbers with a range of error you know then what makes it just a horrible tool? I would like to see some more oppinions but with information to back it up.

like i said if you have everything setup right its not perfect but its close. People who hate on it have probably never used it. It was free for me (christmas present) but i think its kinda neat.

My friend has one in his DC5S, fun to mess around with gives pretty accurate 1/4 mile /hp numbers as long as you know how to set it up and are on a flat surface.

1. 0-60

2. 60-0

3. 1/4mi

4. hp (doesn't account for vehicle airodynamics in the HP equasion, so the better the airodynamics of the car, the more accurate the HP measurement.)

5. peak g-force

6. lateral or "skid pad" peak g-force (turn the meter sideways)

these are all on the 1st gen, which I have, the newer ones have more.

It's a fun "toy". It doesn't replace a dyno or real track, but it will give you a basic idea weather or not you're heading in the right direction.

so lets see i get one and do a HP run. lets say for the purpose of this discussion im out by 5HP. thats fine, so lets say my stock civic run was 110HP. (but in reality its 115HP) ok so im out by 5HP. I go out and get a CAI and Header, i install it and go for a run on the exact same street the stock run was dun. i now run 118HP. Im still 5HP out but the 8HP gain should be correct?? right?? what im tryin to get to is that would it not be a good tool for tuning purposes or for determining how well ur bolt ons are doing?? you may always be 5HP out but after ur basline run all ur increases should be right?? Does this make sense or am i trying to make a reason to buy it?? LOL help!!
