I believe it is something to do with emissions.

Do you know if it gets clogged at all? I guess my real question is, is it a part that needs to be changed?

The black box on the back of the motor has to deal with the PCV. Don't remove it!

That's the part I'm talking about. I know not to remove it and leave it off but is it something that should be replaced? does it get clogged or anything?

wow
I went and bought a fuel filter and pcv valve yesterday. While i was there and i asked, "Can i possibly get the charcoal canister while i'm here?" Then he says, "Are you willing to spend $250. for a part that you can only order from the dealer?

I nearly croaked! I said nevermind and went on my merry way.

I'm all for the environment and all but my charcoal canister is staying original as long as they cost so much. Besides, $250 can get me a 2 decent looking Hookers here in Hollywood rigth after work. Without all the labor too!

It's not the charcoal canister I'm talking about.

no friggen idea. There is a little plug that goes to the side of it with a vacuum line attached to it. I think that might be a one way valve. I think the chamber may act as a plenum - sort of a storage area.

Found a way to delete it though - if that's what you really are after.

Thanx bro . I'm not really looking to delete it I just wanted to know it's use and purpose, for good information though.

You could run with out no pcv valve, the only downside is the atmosphere getting more polluted. Anyways if you want to see if you pcv is working correctly if you unhook the hose coming from it and you put your thumb over it the engine should want to die. You could also just rattle the pcv around and if it makes a noise its working.

That part is called an oil seperator. It keeps liquid oil out of the pcv system. It has a few angled baffles inside so only vapor goes through.

You sir are correct. Basically oem oil catch can. If you take it off and wash it out you should be good to go. I threw some degreaser on it and then put back on my gsr block.
