Default Anyone heard of the oil burning warranty?

I've been told that Honda has an oil burning warranty for the H22a where if the motor burns more than a litre of oil in 1500km then they rebuild it for free. My Type R seems to burn more than that. Last week I put oil in so it was on the last dot on the dipstick. I decided to check it again this week and after adding 1 litre, it still didn't even read on the dipstick. After 2 litres, it was between the dots. This ALWAYS happens and I don't drive abnormally hard. I do the speedlimit and hit vetc 2-3 times a day. These cars should come euiped with oil level meters. I'm dead serious, if any critical fluid needs to be refilled weekly, it needs to be monitored.

Does anyone know if this warranty applies to the B18C5?

Sounds like it would be worth it to ask Acura about. I have never heard of it here, but then again I do not have that problem, so I have never asked...

My ITR motor uses oil too, and I use Mobil 5W-30 Synthetic. I'll bet you don't see any smoke or black on your bumbers around the exhaust tip, either huh?

I would take it straight to the dealer - waste NO time. Your engine oil is THE lifeline for any Honda engine - along with not letting it overheat too - and if it's burning off that quick it could be something serious. Mine doesn't use that much, and I hit VTEC a LOT. SCCA race too - I'm not easy on the revs.

The dealers here offer what is called a"High oil consumption list".Basically they will take the car in service it and they will monitor how much oil the car is using.I have been talking to them about this for a friend who is having trouble with his ITR.I am not sure what the end result will be though. If they deem the engine a high oil consumer I am still unclear as to what their resolution will be to the problem.Good luck...

Not true. Any engine that burns oil if you're using synthetic, will burn conventional oil just as easily.
