Don't try to convert a sealed box into a ported box, it will not come out right, the air space requirements are generally quite different. Can it be done?...Yes, Should it be done?....No

a properly built box (meeting space/material/dimension requirements) will sound shitty if converted. a sealed box built to sealed reqs. and ported builted to ported reqs.
