Default Bye Bye Motor

One of my friends was punching it one day on the freeway and misshifted from 3rd to 2nd redlining in 3rd. Blew the **** out of his motor after reving up to 12k+ RPM . Here are a couple of pics of his motor and car. Oh yeah btw keep this in mind, his R is BONE STOCK and his warranty is voided some how. Discuss lol .

#4 PISTON IS FUCKED

PIECE OF HIS PISTON IN HIS VALVE

THIS LOOKS LIKE IT HURTS

YOU CAN SEE THE VALVES -___-

**** happend when he pulled over on the shoulder on the freeway. Vegas freeways are always filled with ripped tires....

Another nasty picture...

Another view...

Something that used to be a block.

Hope you guys enjoyed the pics LOL ^^

he's planning to buy a new 96' JDM ITR motor right now.

he's parting out everything that is still usable from his motor, and right now he is $1k away.

I doubt there is a clause in the warrenty covering driver error.

You know why it's sad? Because I'm sure all of us realize it could have happened to our block... (knock on wood)

I know I've almost done a 3rd into 2nd... good thing I caught myself just as I was starting to release the clutch. WHOOOOOA there...

Condolences to your friend's misfortune.

yea warranty won't cover driver error... if ur really nie to acura and you have a nice dealership they might replace yours under goodwill... but thats if your lucky.

**** they screwed him over before he blew it. He paid like 2 grand for a warranty cover on the car, and it was having tranny problems and they wouldn't replace it.

And when he blew the motor, he brought it to acura, and they were doing a bunch of bs to his car and fucked some **** up on it and didn't fix ****.

That is ugly...

How long did he see that 12k+ RPM? I did that same third to second misshift in my GS-R and bent the clutch pedal when I head that sound. (I was hung over and late for a wedding.) My time at 13,500 RPM (theoretical from gear ratios) was about 0.25s, however the result was just 8 bent exhaust valves. I even drove it 60 miles after the fact. The pistons had only minor marks on the carbon.

I invested in some ITR intake valves and Skunk2 titanium retainers afterwards. It still wouldn't like another misshift like that!
