I've ran mine at 130 or so once at Laguna Seca and 5 times at Pacific raceways. Great tire. AFter 6 track days in hot weather and top speed of 130 mph I now use them as my daily drivin tires because they still have tons of tread left.

No problems with them at speeds above 80 at both Pocono, The Glen or BeaveRun. You need to remember that track tires can get a buildup of "worms" (rubber) that can upset the balance for a short time. That problem is easily solved with either a session where you can scrub off the nasties or come in and scrape them off.

LOL!!!!

read the URL and you'll see why...

I've run Azenis at Roebling Road and Sebring with no stability problems.

I had my 205/50x15" Azenis up to my speed limiter which is about 145mph (who knows how accurate my speedo is) at VIR but it was also Feburary 2002. No problems whatsoever and my instructor was amazed at the level of grip from a "street tire".

The most I've seen on Azenis is about 135. But they were fine.

Azenis operate well within a rather broad temperature range. Below that range (below freezing) you will notice a lack of grip, and above that range (hard track days and you're not being careful) they will overheat to the point that they are perceivably greasy...but that doesn't mean they're going to fail.

They do get greasy at high temperatures; I find them best in colder weather. If you're going to see frequent 85+ temps them the Kumho MX may be a better option.

LOL.... Aren't Honda Tech rumours just great?

They are my track day rain tyres, and seem to do OK even through the river between T1/T2 at Summit, provided there's tread on them, of course.

My problem with Azenis is how much the damn tires like to slide around on high speed stuff. It's a very unsettling feeling and you need to steer around it to compensate.

I have a kind of OT question.

George, CivicSIRacer, where on earth at VIR are you guys seeing 135mph, even 145mph, in a Honda? Best I've ever seen there was an indicated 125.

I haven't been to VIR Full in a while. I don't see where I said it was at VIR, but I can see how you'd draw that conclusion.

Anyway, the back straight at VIR is faster for me than the front straight and I seem to recall getting to 135 there.

135 is also what I'll hit before braking for T1 at Summit. T8, T9, T10 in an ITR is really pretty fast, and you already have a good run on the straight.

I do not insist on the VIR recollection, but I know I'm right about Summit. You're free to drive the car or ride along.

i'd never heard of anyone with problems going high speed with the tires. they ARE hard compound though, so you wouldn't want to hit a patch of water or gravel going fast

I called Corey on the way to my office.

He says I'm just recalling incorrectly about VIR Full. In those days, I was taking Oak Tree better than I was taking Hogpen, so I was just faster on the back straight. He says I'm faster on the front straight, probably, now...but I haven't been to VIR Full in a long time to know anymore.

Sticking to my guns with Summit Main.

Corey's bouncing his limiter before T1 at Summit if he's not careful. That'd be into 140 mph.

I think he's going by a calculator, not the speedometer.
