EM Racing vs. Jspec
within the summer im hoping to complete my the suspension on my car. But i still have yet to purchase a rear strut. Its a toss up between EM Racing and Jspec. Which would i benefit the most from? If I go EM, it would be the strut and Triangulated Trunk Bar. If i go Jspec, there strut is already a square that connects to 4 parts of the trunk. Does anyone have these bars on their car ? Noticable difference? TIA. Pictures Below
This is the EM Racing Strut and Triangulated Trunk Bar

Here's a diagram of how the Jspec square strut would look

sorry for the big pictures.
keep in mind that this will be going on a 98 coupe

what he said, you'd be best off getting a solid upper strut bar, and a lower tie bar, all of which will probly be the same cost as the "jdm" thing.

yeah what he also said, if you want to stiffen the rear your best bet is a weld in roll cage but keep it to 4pt because i heard a 6ptroll cage gets to drastic street driving and isn't there roll cages so that you can keep your rear interior?

the rear lower makes much more difference than a rear upper. For the top get any fabricator to weld a piece of 4130 across them and two support bars down to the bumper rails
I like the neuspeed rear lower in black powder coat BTW

dont listen to the haters that responded, both of them will work, but the one that looks better is the jspec one (SUMMIT to be correct) and works better because that it actually bolts to support points on the frame of your car, good luck.

Uphill.Specialist: Why dont you ask this question in the road race/autocross forum. I am sure you'd get even more educated real world responses.

That **** is hilarious.
The Jspec bars look like they might actually help chassis stiffness a little though...looks rather like the 4pt. braces for the front of the car that a few companies sell.

http://www.importbuilders.com makes great upper/lower strut bars. great price, great quality! check them out!
the coupe/sedan platfrom is a lot more stable than the hatchback one... these bars are good for hatchbacks, NOT for coupes and sedans. The trunk structure and the fixed back glass gives us the rigidity we need over the hatchback. spend $ elsewhere.

dont buy ANYTHING.

why would he do that?? he wants his car to handle, hes looking into suspension modifications, and hes requesting suggestions, YOU keep your car stock and enjoy it, if thats what you like.
to uphill.specialist, buy a strut bar that is one piece, and welded, not the threaded 5 piece style, also i have seen an upper brace, not sure what its called, on integra's not even sure if they will fit civics or not, but when i talked to the guy he said it made a noticable decrease in body roll..dont see how, but i guess every lil frame reinforcement does a little more than the last, IMO all the lower tie bars are created equal, if you dont have sway bars yet, invest in those before you invest a lot in strut bars. if its the EM and Jspec you are set on, i think the EM will do better because of its triangualated design, the square design i think wont do much, you dont really need forward and aft braces, since that part of your chassis does not flex that much, and a square is a weaker design than a triangle.
