Ouch..DAmn rain..Help please.
Went through a puddle becuase I couldnt get over to avoid it, and well, I sucked a shitload of water up through my intake..Now my engine knocks REAL bad when run (Limping home holding the RPM's below 2 grand aint fun)..Other than changing the oil, is there any suggestions as to what might be wrong with it?
Change the plugs too. You probably burned off all the water you sucked in already but still see if anything is left in there. I did that before on my old motor, changed the oil and plugs and after that to my dismay it ran even better. I sucked up a ton of water killed the car and thought I hydro locked the motor. I was on one of the busiest streets during rush hour so I had to get out of there quick. I unhooked my intake and it took a while but it started. Hopefully you didn't damage your pistons or rings and just cleaned off all the deposits on your valves and pistons.
Yeah, I'd definately say I burned up all the water. Had to gas it just to get it started and stay started..Billows of white smoke, but they stopped after awhile. Changing my oil tomorrow when it dries up...Will check spark pugs too...Thanks much.
If you have a bad knock, metal on metal sound, hate to say it might be a bent rod. I just hydrolocked my motor and had the same knock sound when I got it started again. I pulled my oil pan and windage tray and looked up at the bottem end from under the car and I could see an obvious bent rod. I left my bottom end apart, ordered a new rod, and started to pull the top end to change the rod. After I pushed the piston and rod up thru the top end, I let a shop press the new rod on the piston. I put everything together the following day and beside not setting the crank at top dead center perfectly, she started and ran fine. Took another day to set the crank and cam gears and then set the timing. Now she runs better than ever. Hope you dont have a bent rod tho.
