THIS IS INSANITY AT ITS HIGHEST!
i recently bought my first CRX Si its a 91 and the second day i owned it the engine blew up (connecting rod out the side) a friend of mine recently did a b16 swap on his 91 Si hatch back and gave me his old D16A6 and it has a new head. now after bugging my dad for 2 days to help me align the mounts when the time comes he does and we get the engine in. i start it up and it runs like ****. now my question is why and some things i have to tell are that the radiator puffs smoke so im thinking bad head gasket but i havent done a compression check yet but it would suck to have to take off the intake and exaust and all the other **** to ressle the head off and replace the damn thing so its in your hands people what do i do and what could the problem be?
fill the rad. up if it bubbles blown head most likly. If it smokes out the exhaust blown head maybe. I can not say for sure with out really looking at it. I dont know how much money you have to spend but if you have $1000 got get a DOHC ZC should be around $650 or so. If you have no money try and find a new d16a6 most import shops who do swaps would prolly give you a motor super cheap.
yah but this motor is new i did a compression test last night and it is not a head gasket so im looking into the gas because the car has had the same gas since last july or so....so im gonna either stabilize it or get new gas and spark plugs and time it
thanks anyway dude what kind of car you got?

A compression test will not always tell you if you have a blown headgasket. We just did a headgasket on a car that showed the same compression in all cylinders. Then we did a leakdown test and on the #2 cylinder we had air and water shooting out of the radiator. Tore it down and found a small bad spot in the gasket. I think the water can hold the compression for the few times you crank the motor when you do a compression test . When you do a leakdown test you fill the cylinder with air pressure and it will find any leaks alot better.
