Default Good idea to put a boost controller for stock wastegate setting?

Would it make a difference if you added a boost controller but still wanted to run stock wastegate level boost? Would the addition of the MBC help to maintain that stock level?
Will the MBC help to reduce spiking problems?

I'm boosting with a T25 and shes putting out 10psi right now (has spiked to 11 once or twice). I was under the impression it should be about 8 psi or so.

Im thinking of making one like on C-Speed http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/mbc/mbc.php

A MBC, instead of the turbo's WG creeping open, should "snap open" imporving spool. I've also heard a lot of reports of the turbo holding boost better, more steady.

I have heard various things about those diy boost controllers. Good and Bad that is. I would stick with your WG spring. IMO

I dont see how a mbc is going to help you spool any better.. Since your not going to increase the boost pressure and your not running a electronic noid style mbc all your doing then it just flowing boost pressure threw a little valve to the wastegate..

If you want to help your turbo spool better get an electronic mbc (apexi avcr)..

If you use a ball and spring type of boost controller, the ball and spring will keep the wastegate from seeing boost for longer. That way, thewastegate will stay closed for longer. And that will help your turbo spool up faster by making sure that all the exhaust goes through the turbine.

Ive got a small t25 which spools fast enough. Thing is its putting out 10psi (using STOCK WG) and spiked to 11 at least once. I wanted to know if adding a boost controller would keep that turbo under control so it doesnt boost way up and blow my motor.

A boost controller will never lower boost. So, no.

10psi is low boost, anyway.

Ahh.. Im thinking of the boost controllers that you bleed pressure off of the line and use a restrictor at the beginning of the line..

more room for failure. If you just want to boost at the spring rate then my vote is just for the spring, nothing else.

a manual boost controller like the ball and spring type shown on the c-speed racing page can be used to control wastegate creep and spool quicker. as long as you can get the parts cheap, i'd say it's a decent investment.
