Searching Helms.. but, where is the Drier?
Looking in the Helms i have, it's not very informative of where to find the drier/reciever and how to replace it. I'm replacing my Compressor (it has a leak), and i need to replace the Reciever too, so i don't void warranty. Any Howto's? I searched.
ok i figured that out pretty much.
I figured out where my compressor leaks too, the relief valve. Anyone realize WHY it would leak out of there? Any way of preventing this? should i replace the relief valve?

pressure release valve? the nut that is located on the side of the compressor? either too much freon and blew the seal or an old seal gone bad. i had to replace mine and it was about $50+- from the dealer.

did you have to take the compressor off to replace it? I believe that's my problem, even though i just bought a new compressor. - i guess i should have taken the heat shield off FIRST before buying a replacement.

with the b18b in there, no. i could take it off with a ratchet with attached to the motor. the reason i had to change mine is cause when we added more freon, it was spitting all out of the release valve.
so after replacing it with a new one, it started to leak from the same area, but not as bad and after a little while it just stop.
btw: is this a 92-93 r12 compressor?

yeah, r12. im doing that ghetto r134a conversion. That's my EXACT problem. </TD></TR></TABLE>
btw: that ghetto retro fitting shouldnt cost no more the $10. it's just a fitting you screw over your factory valve stems. also are you adding the freon yourself, or are you having a shop do it? if you plan on pumping it yourself, hopefully you have the right a/c equiptment instead of buying that cheap ghetto kit from autozone.

myself, and i have no ac equipment. lol. I'm learning as i go along. I replaced a whole line due to a hole, now im fixing the compressor. Im using that exact ghetto kit from autozone, but i bought it from walmart
you can replace all the parts yourself, but i suggest you let a a/c specialist vaccuum and recharge your system. those over the counter kits are waste of money and itll ruin your system sooner or later.

have you seen the prices for r12 over r134. its ridiculous. and i'm not talking about no cheap *** freeze 12 from autozone. better to go retrofit for the long run.
