What Shoes When Driving?
I need to buy a new pair of shoes and I want to get something that works well for driving (autoX, track days). I don't want to but a driving only shoe like piloti because the shoes will be worn out and casual...
What shoes do you guys wear that work well for driving? (and no, I do not want to wear wrestling shoes
)
I'm thinking of getting a pair of these: http://www.nascarplace.com/sparco/itm01291.htm

Flux - those shoes are for the pitcrews. If you do search on http://www.eastbay.com and look up Puma and browse, you'll find Sparco endorsed thin-soled shoes. I paid $30 for 'em and they work great... they are casual and aren't as gummy/soft as the real racing shoes... so they will last longer.
[edit]damn, the shoes are all sold out... item #41730201 [/edit]

When I autocross I use an old pair of casual hush puppy like shoes. They have a thin flat rubber sole with almost no heal. I like them because they are wide enough to heal-toe.
One option: just head down to your neighborhood Payless Shoe Store and look for a thin sole, thin heal, casual dress shoe that is wide enough with a rubber sole. I don't like wrestling shoes because they are too narrow (and somewhat ugly.)

Converse "Chuck Taylor All Stars" are very thin and have flat soles. Plus, they make my 13-Wides seem not quite so wide.

In my experience skater shoes tend to run somewhat thick in the soles and the upper material. You don't get a good feel for the pedals with skate shoes as you would in my Puma SpeedCats, Nike Presto, or my flip flops

I use my Vans. The shoe has a Fat Flat sole.
But driving to a wedding last week with my dress shoes with its extremely stiff sole, I don't know now...
See how that old guy (Gansan?) on Best Motoring he's always driving with his loafers.

Air Walks are what I use. My Nike running shoes are good too.
Some of you guys are seriously messed up buying those "racer" shoes. If you need special shoes to make you better, maybe you shouldnt be racing at all.
Dont get pissed or anything, thats just my opinion
