Default anyone have one of those ebay hiflo cats?

I'm curious about these,
do they have anything inside them ?
or are they just pipes shaped to look like a hiflo cat?

megan racings site says this
" The MR Hi Flow Catalytic Converter, a test Pipe or Resonator,"

well which ******* one is it!??!?!? sheesh!

basically i'm considering them cuz they're cheap,
and I dont want a straightpipe, but I dont really care that much about having a cat...
I just dont want that nasty raspy *** sound of no cat.. if it functions like a resonator i'd be coo with it..

i bought my carsound high-flow cat off of ebay for $60. That's pretty cheap, and all you need to do is get it welded up in the stock location.

That isn't what he asked.

I seen pictures of the cats on ebay and i didn't see any honeycomb actually inside there.

If there were any in there i'm sure its low quality.

goodluck and let me know how it turns out i been wanting to pick one up.

I have one. Its a glass pack that looks like a catalytic converter and bolts on directly in place of the stock one.

I have one...

IMO it's worth the $30 I spent on it...mines just basically a resonated test pipe.

It doesn't sound pingy or raspy at all, which is what I was trying to avoid. I've had mine on my car now for about 6 months and it's holding up well

I give them a because they are cheap and there is a noticable gain, so why not? Of course, you won't pass emissions with one of these...so I kept my stocker and I'll just throw that on when it comes time to get my car tested

Here are some pics I took when I got mine.

cool!
thanks man thats just the info I was looking for.

looks to be as I suspected.
which is cool, thats just what I need,
probably would have liked to see more dampening material in there though,
but ****, the price is right.. only thing cheaper would be a straightpipe.. and i'm not down for that...

still its not cool how they keep claiming they are catalytic converters.. considering they do no catalytic converting whatsoever! hah.

If you dont mind me asking, what brand did you get btw??

yeah its all good,
i'm probly going to just try and find whichever one looks to be the fattest(more sound deadening material).

actaully the OBX one is looking to come out on top..
its a bit pricier though at 40bux, hehe

hmmm, that would be nice, i'll look into it,
but from what i've seen, any REAL cat wont run me less than 100.
i'd pay 50 for a catco,
but not anymore, i'd rather have something that just sounds/looks like a cat(doesnt do much filtration), than something that filters well, but DIES on me.
heard of ppl going thru multiple catcos before switching brands.

Damn, this might actually be a good idea for my setup. I'm looking for a test pipe that doesn't make my exhaust too loud but frees up the flow for my turbo to spool quicker.

Question: Does that "test pipe" make your car smell?

I've heard a lot of bad things about catco cats...like they rust and fall apart etc.

Plus, you have to have them welded on, that means more $ unless you happen to have a welder sitting in your garage and are good with it.

I still vote for the cheap ebay cat, it bolts right up, gives you noticable gains, and is cheap. Just keep your stock cat for inspections.

My car doesn't smell, but if you are sitting at a light sometimes you can smell it a tiny bit, nothing to worry about though...

Is a horsepower or two really worth destroying the enviroment?

Also, if we don't want the cops on our asses because of exhaust issues, it would probably help if we didn't try and pull **** like that.

catco cat would be ur best bet bro.... same flow, same power , chances are if you are doing a lot of mods you won't pass smog either way. if you are doing some minor mods you should have a catco

Buy a CArsound cat from eBay and have mounting flanges welded on - 49.95 for the CAT and 10.00 or so to have the mounting flanges welded on.
