i was stoked whe the potenza REO70s came out, (all set to get some, but they are only making them in 225/45/17 so far,
i was looking for an alternative to azenis (too trendy now)
the kumho ecsta V700 and pirelli Pzero corsa look good but they're way too pricey,
anybody have any recommendations for a good street/track tire comparable to the potenza or azenis?

I wasnt aware that going to the track was a fashion show.
Although maybe Giles can help you out with that, his pimpy sparco suit and all.

too trendy? what the f---?
Suggestion: you don't want to use V700s on the street if you have a choice.
Suggestion 2: mount Azenis on flat black Rota Sub-zeros
Suggestion 3: Kumho MXs

evreyone and their f-king mom has azenis all around, i have something of an aversion to jumping on band wagons, though i'll proably end up sporting them ne-way cause i they're fairly affordable,
saying i don' want the azenis is kinda like saying i won't drive the civic cause it's too comon but i can't afford the STI.
is the treadlife on the V700s that bad?

Would they be all that bad if everyone and their mom had them?
I bought a set used earlier this year, maybe 75% tread left on them. So far they've lasted 15 (thats fifteen) track days. And they still have another 2-3 weekends left. At least.
Find me something better and I'm on it like stink on ****, but until then I'll take the falkens.

It's an R-comp tire. It's treadwear is pretty decent for an R tire, but you'll be pretty dissapointed on the street. They're not exactly cheap either.

haha, that hilarious. . .hahaha
Azenis are hands down best bang for the buck.
The only time I wish I had something like an s03 or t1s (way out of the azenis price range) is when I encounter standing water on the highway. I think my spring rates make the problem worse though.

you are really hard pressed to find a tire that will perform as well vs the cost.
Only other tire I have thought about for daily is the MX....but the Azenis is much cheaper around here...270 after tax for 205-50-15's.
And yeah, I drive mine year round in the PNW....rain and all. Freeway driving at 80 doesn't scare me with 550 rear rates....it's the standing water you gotta watch out for

A couple weeks ago, we were heading to a race at Beaverrun, it was supposed to take about 4 hours from where we were. Standing water the whole PA turnpike, ended up taking 6.5 hours. I think the kg/mm: ft/lb would mean my rear springs are like 470 or something.
That's the only negative to azenis, as far as street driving goes. Anybody who complains about road noise must not drive a civic cx with loud exhaust, because I sure can't hear them.

My Falkens are quiet as hell. Kinda bothers me. Couldn't really hear when they are letting me know they're about to let go. Nothing like a squirelly back end entering the Madness of M-O.
Standing water is bad, snow is terrible, almost humerous (except when you're spinning out on the highway). Of course, anytime there's a weather emergency I'm usually driving through it.

Mine make a whole lot of hollerin' while they slip-n-slide.
I routinely have the full attention of the corner worker in Hogpen

Nope, not kidding (for once); and yes I'm talking about Azenis. They made less noise than my previous 3 sets of Yoko A520s, which I felt were more of a quiet tire. Now the Falkens make some noise, but they are at the wear bars after 2 years of use. My car is not particularly loud (so it isn't the exhaust overpowering it) either, well now it is, but that's only for the last month. Very little noise and then yer slidin'.
I know others claim they scream but that hasn't been my experience.
I have a new set sitting in my family going on the car tomorrow morning. We'll see what the new guys do at Gingerman this July.

I can live with that. My experience with Jagerbombs was atypical as well, but that's a different thread.

I would say about 25 units of slippage. With better springs you may be able to get that down to 17-18.
you'll like em more than doral street tires. I thought doral made cigarettes anyway, so you'll soon be moving up in the world.

HAHA, good old Jagerbombs!!
To add to what GSpeedR has been saying: I have really thought that my Azenis have been very quiet minus the first 200 miles or so. I used to hear them rumble on the highway, and I don't think it's just me getting used to them, but I could be wrong.
And no, I really don't think they do that great of a job of letting you know when they are going to let go. They have been very quiet on-track for me as well. Same story for auto-x too.
Maybe some weird batch of Azenis coming out of an Ohio warehouse that we got here GSpeedR??
And just to make this more thread relevent; the Azenis are the best bang for your buck tire in any size, hands down.
Tires aren't trendy either you tool
, they're wear items

actually azenis are all the mad **** in freno right now, most people around here use them like a drag radial, i saw a show car sporting azenis in the back and BFG gforce up front, so yeah they can be a trend. your shoes are a wear item too.
