Default Cant engage my clutch? HELP!!!

Well i finally start the car after the 4 month build... starts fine.. fix all the little leaks and whatnot,, then I go put it in gear,,, but she wont go???
I turn off the car, now it goes into all the gears perfectly,,,

So my friend tells me the put a few washers at the end of the clucth step so that the clucth pushes further... did it and NO Difference

Ah right now im totally frustrated and fed up!
I have a dual diaphrame pressure plate with a type R disk and stick flywheel...

Im gonna take off the tranny tomo and see whats going on with the pressure plate,, im guessing thats the problem?

any other suggestion?

thanks
Tyler

Have you check clutch fluid (brake fluid)?

What kind of clutch do you have? Is it brand new or you never changed it? I had same problem with my Action 1ms. It ended up being that I installed the disc backwards and it wasnting allowing the pressure plate to release. I would check the master, and slave cylinders to make sure they are working properly before you go ahead and drop the tranny. In my case, 1 tow ride home from friends house, 2 days just staring at the tranny, and and about 5 hours correcting the problem=

ya maybe I put in the disk the wrong way.... if I did im not gonna be a happy camper...
yes just blead it,, and the slave cylinder is working perfect... It feels like a perfect high performance clutch, but just wont go in gear and always has pressure on it!

im taking off the tranny tomo at 10!

wish me luck!

Is this a brand new clutch? What brand? Did you resurface the flywheel? Something may be bent or warped.

ya i resurfaced the flywheel

well its just a dual diaphrace pressure plate that a tranny place in MTL made...
It was used on my friends car for like 2k miles then he sold the motor and I got the motor!

But I tryed the clutch in his old car and it was mint..
I even got the pressure plate resurfaced before putting it back in!

is there anyway my tranny could be messed up? even thought i drove it in the old car and it was perfect!

so flywheel? or pressure plate...
If they shave it too much ,, wouldnt it not catch? rather then my problem where it wont release!

I would say the resurfacing may be the problem. Its not to common to resurface a pressure plate. Where did you get that done? I would check the specs on the flywheel, clutch plate, and pressure plate with the helms to see what you have...

If you dont want to run the risk of putting it back together and it wont work, just buy a new clutch and fly. Its the best way.

well I changed it last night...

I ended up changing my diaphrame,,, when I compare the new one to the one I was ising...

The old one: the vains where still sticking out when I bolted it all down to the flywheel...

with the new one the vains where actually pointing inwards...

my friend said the vains had to be pointing inwards when bolting down so I used the new diaphram

but i still have the same problem this time its worst

WTF IM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW..........

ps: vains are the small taps the move when the main bearing pushes on them!

Damn, I guess I'm NOT the only having weird issues.....

I just put ON a brand NEW CM Stage 3 + resurfaced OEM wheel (old clutch got slightly fried) ....

The damn things was fine for the first 15-20miles, then it started to get "notchy" on 1st & 2nd gear(s)... Tody it didn't want to go into any gear...

I put it back up on jacks, I can engage it now w/o putting clutch "IN" & clutch pedal feels lighter than stock(not much resistance for a "Stage 3" from what I read)..... BIZZARRE !!!

When i had the car on jacks and started the engine, I was able to shift into all the gears w/ out stepping on the CLUTCH!!! i was like WTF?? but when i actually test drove my car, it was fine!!! weird... yea my gears feel notchy as well!!!..im thinking about reinstalling my old CM stage 3 pressure plate since it was perfect in operation.

Have you checked the clutch slave cylinder? i had a somewhat similar problem and that was my solution, having that replaced. No im not very good at mechanics yet or too knowledgeable, but i wanted to make an attempt at helping.

Stupid clutches (changeover), someone should invent a clutchless system ....

check you clutch cylinder, you may have a leak that you don't know of...Had a similar problem..when the engine was running, it just wouldnt go into gear, but when turned off, it went in and easily...I also happened to notice my friction point was off...so I took a look at the pedals and noticed brake fluid leaking from the clutch pedal...well thats my story, hope it helped and good luck!

Problem Solved:

Found out my PP-Bolts backed themselves out, even after they were properly torqued to specs... (Use NEW bolts next time) ...
