depends on the conditions. What was stolen.. What was it replaced with.. What kind of condition... etc.. Salvaged cars are harder to sell.

er.. in califonia they wont tell you exactly why the car was salvaged.. it could have been as simple as stolen interior.. or as bad as a big accident... i'd be pretty sketchy a 2000 had that much damage/stolen stuff..
i personally wouldn't buy a salvaged vehicle only because even if u put a whole lotta money into it.. and then it got stolen or crashed.. they insurance company will only compensate the salvaged value.. which is like.. err.. half of what blue book value would be..
there are people out there who buy smushed or even rolled over cars.. fix em up to look great on the outside.. but they won't ever drive the same...
some things sound to good to be true.. there is truth behind that..

yes, i would, but i also never sell my cars later on, so if you're not looking to keep the car til it dies then don't get it cause that salvage title will come back to haunt you one day
My first Gsr was a salvaged one, I got a great deal, but at the same time salvage titles take away quite a bit of value from the car.
Heres two general rules I would go by
It's either salvaged because of Wreck/66.6% damages or more, so this means a major accident. Most of the times they are fixed half ***.
Or It a stolen recovery, which could be interior, wheels, it really depends on the value of the car. With that said
If it's been wrecked I'd stay away
If it's a stolen recovery, and the body/motor is in good shape and also you plan on building or enjoying the car for a long time then buy it and take advantage of the good price.

Well, if you dont plan on selling it anytime soon and you really take a look at the whole car and maybe find out the history, then it could be a good deal.

my own car was a salvaged/theft recovery vehicle. Drivetrain was stolen originally. As well as some of the interior...the little hole in the wall dealership I purchased it from replaced the motor with a new one (paperwork included) as well as the intereior. So I ended up with a 95, with a new engine/transmission, and almost mint interior.

Besides the insurance issues with a salvaged title, it is hard to get financing. If you've got the cash, it's a theft-recov., and you're keeping the car for a while, have at it. Just make sure you look over every part of the car. Don't get home and realize you got took.

I second looking it over...car runs great...but the bracket that holds the two piece driveshaft together on the driver side wasn't bolted to the block....and the a/c clutch bolt on the end of the pulley was loose and came out (replaced)
No other mishaps...more than pleased with it. Chassis had 91k miles on it.

i got my 98 gsr sedan 3 years ago with 40k for 9k after tax. Theft... leather seats and wheels where gone. They replaced it with cloth inteiror and some 17 inch rims with kumho 712. Just make sure the person you are buying from doesnt dick ya and make sure u know the histroy. Look over everything like other members says.

I would buy a salvaged GSR, but as everyone said, take a good look at it. Have others look at it too. I've fond that bringing a fresh set of eyes to check it out will notice things you may have missed. When you see a car that's priced to sell, you happen to look over important things.
Another thing: The car could've been salvaged for something real dumb and small that wont affect the car's life. Some people buy their cars back, find parts to replace the missing ones for CHEAP, and just resell it to make a couple thousand. But, everyone else that mentioned other reasons are also valid. Good Luck.

just make sure you're keeping the car forawhile, cause you'll take a huge loss...i plan on keeping my car pretty much until it dies...or when i'm out of grad school and i have a good enough job so it wont matter much
salvage titles are not always that bad imo, If there has been minnor damage you can get a really good deal on a car for cheap. Also buying a car that isnt a salvage can be just a worst. Ive seen some pretty bad wrecks get fixed that should of been a write off but wasnt so u never know what your getting even if it isnt a salvage title
My 01 gsr is salvage, stolen, taken for a joy ride, hit a sign, left it. 10k miles on it and nothing missing. Had a little front end damage so I did the jdm conversion. I love it, people complain about them only being worth half the book for insurance, but you only pay half for it. They're just preventing you from scamming insurance. I don't plan on selling it.
Just look at it before you buy. Don't get anything that has/had the frame bent, that's never quite fixed right.

if it got stolen i'd get raped on the return price.. :*(</TD></TR></TABLE>
How are you getting raped on the return price when you only paid half for it? Shouldn't insurance only give you that half back? So is not making an extra $6k on it when you shouldn't be in the first place getting raped?
