Default Greddy Turbo on the way for an EP.....

i just ordered my Turbo kit for my EP today and i wanted to get some feed back from anyone who has this kit or knows anyone with one who could gimme a heads up on anything i should know about it.... i.e. new fuel pump??? performance clutch, do i need one??? if not, how long is the stock clutch gonna last??? if so, can i get away from buying a new flywheel by altering the existing one???? would a cat-back drastically improve performance??? Let me know any information you know and it would be greatly appreciated

clutch life will depend on how u drive.. you can keep stock flywheel.. I dont know what clutches are good havnt done much research on this yet... a cat-back will def help or midpipe

Welcome to the Greddy kit club

1) Lets start off with the kit itself.
You may be aware that the kit does not come with IC, BOV, gauges nor boost controller.
You definetly need a gauge to monitor your boost.
I recommend an IC so you can get the tuned emanage thats available for free.
BOV you dont need but it will help out the life of the turbo.

2)No, you dont need a fuel pump unless you are planing on high boost.
The stock clutch lasted me quite awhile and is still hanging on, this is with some track events(road racing) and taking it to the strip. So, youll be fine for awhile, unless you miss treat it.
Do keep in mind that if you are ever going to get an aftermarket clutch, you will need the RSX type S one, thats including its flywheel.
Reason being, there isnt any aftermarket clutches for the EP yet.

3) If you are going to change the flywheel, might aswell save up and get the clutch aswell. Do it all at once, since the tranny will be dropped.

4) Yes, the better the flow of air, the better performance.

There's a local store that i went to for the kit. I tried to go through NOPI but they kept having problems with availability and/or getting the money out of my account... i got the kit for $2,950 shipped and he's getting it here in half the time it was going to take NOPI. that's tax too...the man's gotta pay tax cause it's a business...

I got the gauges necesary and a Greddy turbo timer, that's all my pockets could handle at this moment in time.

Thanxs for all the info but keep it coming, any more thoughts couldn't hurt...

I suggest you return the turbo timer... and get a FMIC and bov, too hot intake temps can cause detonation... and the bov helps with compressor surge in between shifts prolonging your expensive turbo's life...

1)FMIC = Front mount intercooler

2)I like my Greddy type S.

ok, yeah i really don't have that kinda cash flow for a front mount but it is on my list
i do have a CAI i dunno if that'll help the detonation thing...
How loud is the type s BOV?

CAI won't help at all. The place where the air is heated up is in the compressor because the exhaust side is directly connected to the compressor side, thus it heats up the air dramatically. I suggest you return all your guages except the oil pressure guage and invest in the FMIC first. Detonation will kill your engine.

definitely make sure u have EVERYTHING u need before the turbo install, it'll save u from having problems in the future. i'm not sure if an lsd is out for the ep3 yet but i would invest in one since you're gonna have the tranny dropped.

what kinda prices am i looking at for a FMIC? i know that i've seen'em for like $500 and up... what about a side mount would that be less expensive and/or substitutible. I wanted to stay away from a front mount cause i didn't want to bradcast that i had a turbo.

any IC is good. Side mounted ones require you to have a vented hood or something. Liquid to air ICs are not that good for daily driving. FMIC is the best of the three for ease of installation and less required parts. If you get a BOV, you're gonna broadcast it anyways.

Really depends, I've seen 300-700. Shop around. You'll need the associated piping also.

I believe the revhard one costs $700 shipped and the Greddy is $799 shipped from Showstoppers(check sig for link.)
They both come with all necessary pipping and hardware.

Paint it high heat black, that will hide it.
