Default Altenator Buying

I may need to buy a new alternator.

Would you buy a used one?

Also, I have a obd1 motor b16, if I bought a new one, what alternator would I buy?
Can I buy an obd2 alt and have it work?

Take the altenator you have now and have it rebuilt. It's cheaper than buying a new one and when you buy a "new" one you're usually just buying a rebuilt one anyway.

How close are you to any of these places?

You could proabably call Napa - don't rely on AutoZone or any of those stores - and see if they know anywhere in the area that rebuilds them. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help.

If you'd read the thread I'm telling him to have his rebuilt for $50 or so because that's all you're buying when you buy a "new" one.

If you look at the link it only shows about 7 rebuilders in Illinois. I can guarantee you there are a lot more than 7 rebuilders in that state.
