A little suggestion plz?
Ok guys this is my first post in this forum. I just want to be honest and say that I don't know jack sh@$#@$ about audio and stuff when it comes to cars. I'm more of the guy that dumps his money on the motor. But I can't take it anymore. A month ago the deck that came with my car completely died and it stopped working. It was a POS anyway so I didn't pay no attention to it. I think it was PYLE or something like that. It's hella boring driving my car and can't take it no more. I need some music. I don't know what I'm doing or what to buy. I need a new deck radio or whatever u call it and two front speakers and the two rears. I don't want anything loud or anything like that. I just want something that'll play my music without skipping everytime I hit a dip. I just want a clear smooth sound that comes out of the speaker without killing my wallet. What kind of deck/speakers would you guys reccommend to a total noob like me. Yes I did search but like I said I got lost. hahaha iono. I just want to get other people's opinion before I go to the store and my a complete *** out of myself. Also do you guys know what size are the speakers for the front and rear? I have a 91 integra btw. Thanks in advance. Any help is appreciated.
Your speakers are 6.5s all the way around.
for a deck get a cd player/MP3. For skipping, make sure the deck has a decent "buffer" ( memory chip in the player that reads ahead and plays while the deck is skipping).
Budget wies think a couple hundred, for your fronts. Not so much for the rears. ( you sit in the front, so thats where you wnat to spent $$$ ). As for the deck, depends on your budget. you want amps down the road ? make sure you get RCA pre-outs, on the deck. ( these will 'send' the signal to the amps instead of speaker wire).
As for brands, take a listen to what your friends have. brand names ( pioneer, alpine, jvc, etc..) are a safe play in the entry- mid level, also.
good luck

As far as an inexpensive, no frills, but quality headunit, I highly reccomend Pioneer's DEH1600. It's very basic, but also very good, and it does have a few nice features like a customizable equalizer. I have yet to hear it skip, and I have a lot of very rough roads in my area. Circuit City carries them if you want to check it out locally. For speakers, I personally like Rockford Fosgates. They aren't too expensive, but they're very high quality for the prices. You can get a nice set of all 4 speakers for about $150 by ordering them online.

Sounds like a good route^^^^. But do you really need new speakers too? Sounds like all you want is the music and the factory speakers will do just fine. Save the extra $100-$200 and get something different.

THanks for the suggestion guys. Really appreciate it. Yea the thing is the car didn't come with the rear speakers when I bought it. hmmm and the two front crapped out on me so I might as well get new ones while I'm at it.
Oh and another thing. What does an amp actually do anyway? I know people use them if they have subs. Does it give power to the subs? Are there any benefits of putting an amp on a set up that has no subs but just speakers? So If I get a deck that has no RCA pre out thingy, I can't put an amp on my car down the road without buying a new deck? wow thanks

>>> Not to be a smart ***, but just what it says, it amplifies. in this case the audio signal from the deck.
I know people use them if they have subs. Does it give power to the subs?
>>>>> yes.
Are there any benefits of putting an amp on a set up that has no subs but just speakers?
>>>>>> Yes, for sure. it makes your deck work less hard. The deck "spends"
less energy making rca output than speaker output. this means cleaner sound, to a degree. 20 X 4 amp power will kill 20 X 4 deck power, every time. it has only one purpose ( to amplify), compared to a deck, which has all kinds of other things going on, and potentially messing up the sound out put. it's all about clean sound, yo.
So If I get a deck that has no RCA pre out thingy, I can't put an amp on my car down the road without buying a new deck?
>>>> No. you can still do it, with an adaptor, but the sound quality will be less than rcas.
if you get an amp on 4 speaks, you'll get the 'bug'... next thing you know.... sub time !!! Huhahahahhaaaaa, welcome.

by far some of the popular decks with h-t members (that i've seen) is the alpine cda-9815 and the cda 9835.
alpine 0wnz j00. whether or not you'll admit it. alpine is probably the BEST head unit brand out there. great prices for EXCEPTIONAL quality.

BOOOOOO!
Go for pioneer HU's but Alpine would be my second choice anything other than that is garbage. And I wouldnt worry about getting expensive door speakers...some cheap inexpensive ones will sound fine, well, at least it will be better than stock
