I hope that was a playful comment if not thats in poor taste, know one knows if he has been a veteran engine builder for 1000 years. Don't judge people by the number of posts. If it was a joke then disregard this post.

It's sort of a joke and sort of not. By no means was it meant to be derogatory...quite the opposite actually.

They are both fairly new to this board. I just thought it was great that we've got new guys on the board with knowledge and not the typical idiots I'm used to running into.

You'll see some great improvements in gearing from jumping to the ITR tranny from an LS. Yes, to go along with what everyone else said....it will bolt up

I've got the Type-r tranny hooked up to my B20 and boy does it haul ***... the only problem is stock rev limiter kills me... damn 7,000rpm...

oh yeah... crusin around 80 mph you are already at or around 4,000rpm, but at least 4th and 5th gears aren't dead gears anymore

I had a 4.785 JDM FD Type R tranny. At 70mph I was at 4,000rpms.....no decided whether or not you want to cruise at that speed on the highway.

The 3, 4 and 5th gears are no longer dead, they are very much alive. Also, my 4th gear topped out at 95mph, then it was 5th from there. I was shifting into 5th gear at the end of the 1/4 mile with my all motor setup last year, that was a bitch. But for the most part that tranny helped me get up to that speed. A great tranny with awesome acceleration.

I had an ITR tranny on my old LS, and it made it faster than any other mod. Your top speed will be gear-limited to about 113 MPH.

What tranny should i go with, i want to top out at at least 140 and have a good LSD with very much alive 4th and 5th gears. Also does anyone know how good the Phantom Grip LSD's are? Ive heard mixed remarks. Ive got an LS with with a pretty basic turbo setup, rc 550's, my AEM EMS is waiting to go in along with my sleeves pistons rings, and rods that are in route. Ive got a 4puck comp. clutch and clutch masters flywheel, i need a better tranny axles and halfshafts and dont know too much about tranny drivetrain stuff...give me a hand i am a noob here...

do you know at all or anyone what the Si tranny tops out at? i need a decently high top speed, like around 140 or so but i need something that will handle something around 500-600hp, after ive got my new sleeves and internals and my AEM EMS standalone in along with the necessary other modifications, i will need my tranny to hold up to the power, i will push out somewhere between 18and24 pounds of boost, unfortunately it is my third motor cause i went the cheap and easy way before...give me a hand with the tranny guys...Mike

SI and ITR tranny have the same gears and final drive. Only difference is the SI tranny lacks the LSD.

Get yourself a GSR tranny, and add a LSD. I would add a genuine Honda LSD...I've heard the Phantom Grips suck.

if you've got a boosted LS, I would suggest that you get a GSR tranny and add an LSD in. i've had 2 boosted LS motors making over 300whp and let me tell ya, a GSR tranny has perfect gearing for the LS power band. don't get me wrong, i love the B16 and ITR trannies as well, but IMO those trannies are better suited for N/A applications. Both setups had LSDs as well, the first with a Quaife, and the recent one has a Kazz 1.5 way. both LSDs perform great!

and if you want to top out at 140, you definately can't do that with either and ITR or B16 tranny, unless you raise redline or run larger wheels.

Definately get the GSR tranny if your boosting. I had a Kaaz 1.5 way aswell and I loved it, worked great (with my ITR tranny last year). I've always wanted a quaife just because of the hype behind it and the guarantee, i'll definately be getting one this winter while I do another buildup
