exhaust wrap burning????
I just wrapped my header with exhaust wrap and when the header first heated up, it was smoking, which is normal (according to some website). That same website said that the burning smell and smoke should go away within 10 miles but I still smell burning after 30 miles. Is this normal? Will it ever stop smelling? Thanks
just make sure everything is okay under there, on some of my friends cars, after taking off the wrap, the headers were cracked, the wrap is sup help witht the heat, but sometimes, personal experience, it traps it in and cracks stuff

yea I've heard a lot about the over-wrapping but I only did one layer of wrap (kept it less than 1/4 inch thick). My headers are crap anyway so they probably will end up cracking, which means I'll buy some good ones. Thanks for the input.
i've got my mugen header double wrapped right now and it seems to work great...the under hood temps are much lower and the intake air temperature has gone down about 4-5 degrees (average) as a result...i remember mine smoked and smelt like they were burning for about a week afterwards...it wasn't until i took the car on a 400 mile trip that the smell completely went away (or so i noticed)....
