Rear Brake Caliper Piston unscrewed all the way?
I redid my EP-3 brakes(first time) all the way around about a week ago. Easy and NO PROBLEMS. I have 92,xxx on the odometer.
So, I decided to help my kid brother do his Ford Focus SVT brakes. Ford = SUBSTANDARD ENGINEERING. The fronts went ok except for the stupid retainer spring that attaches to the outside of the caliper. The rears are another story. First, I could get the rotor off(he is replacing them). Like Honda's the rear calper's are the type you screw in to compress the piston. However, the center of the piston comes flush with the "spokes" on it. Anyway, I had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to screw it in. ---Hope that all made sense.
To the point-- the piston was not compressing so I turned the opposite direction and it came loose from the caliper!! I quickly screwed it back in, but my question is: would this introduce air into the brake line or cause the caliper to leak fluid? He thinks there is less pressure now.
