Default Running very rich

I'm having a problem with my Prelude... it's way slower than it should be, even for an automatic. A friend of mine did a quick poke around under the hood, and pulled the spark plugs.

The spark plugs in it were completely covered with carbon, except for a spot about halfway down the electrode on one side. The center insulator was all carboned up as well.

We replaced the plugs with some NGK Iridiums. On a test run my friend followed behind me in his car. He said the car smoked pretty bad out the exhaust any time I was really on it. He also said the smoke was blackish-brown and that my exhaust smelled rich.

After about 10 miles we pulled the new plugs back out and they are completely covered with carbon everywhere except where the spark is hitting the electrode. I know these cars run rich, especially while on the VTEC cam, but this is ridiculous.

Any idea why it's so rich? O2 sensor maybe? The check engine light is not on, so I don't really know where to begin.

I am interested in this as well. I run hella rich in VTEC. Is the only remedy to tune the car and lean out VTEC?

usally just with bolt ons preludes will run very rich. So eaither get an FPR that can adjust down, or get a vafc. Only 2 things i can think of. How many miles are on your ludes ?

I guess that makes sense with the bolt ons. I have a Osaka rip off so for all I know I could have 1,000,000 on my motor. I am of course told its less than 45,000k.
I was thinking about getting a P28 chipped and attempting uberdata. I have a knock sensor code (I am pretty sure its just damaged) but I lose tons of power from 4k-VTEC, is that because timing is being thrown? I am just trying to figure out what the best solution for all these problems is? The p28 doesnt recognize the knock sensor so my hope is that some tuning could fix all of this,

I haven't calculated the mileage... it isn't very good IMO.

Friend suggested I check the oil level because I was occasionally hitting the lower (no VTEC) rev-limiter. The oil level was fine but it reeks of gasoline . I'm parking the car until we can figure out what's causing this. Like I said I know these cars run rich but this is ridiculous.
