Default ABS light on in gen 4 lude

I have a 95 Prelude and the ABS light just came on in it. Is this something that can be easily fixed? I don't want to take it to a dealer and have to pay out the nose for it. I saw something about checking the code? What is that about, car computer? How do you do that? Any sugestions would be appreciated.

Is your brake fluid low? that could be a reason the light came on. Just check that and see if that is the problem.

Have you done any suspension/brake work lately. I heard if you dont get the sensor spaced right it could affect it. Not totaly sure though.

OK, I checked the break fluid and it seams ok, here is my question: If I did need to add fluid, would I add dot 3 or 4? I didn't put the fluid in to begin with, so I don't know for sure what is in there. The caps all say use 3 or 4. Does it matter if you mix dot 3 with dot 4?

Thanks

No, it isn't a break light, does anyone know how to bridge the diagnostic socket terminals so I can check the fault codes?

Ok, I guess I should have asked where they were, how do I get to them, what do they look like?

My ABS light came on earlier this week. Took it into a dealership. They tell me my ABS pump has failed, I no longer have Anti-Lock Brakes, and it will cost me around $1355 to purchase and install a new pump.

ABS is a bonus feature rather than a necesity so I'm not fixing it. I'm curious about how heavy the pump is, and how easily it is removed for wieght reduction.

Mine is a 4th gen VTEC, and hope you don't have the same problem. Good luck.
