hey guys, i did a search and could not find my answer......my power windows were working ultra fine until one day they wouldn't work. they randomly go up and down as they please.
for example, my passenger side window will only go up when my door is open, not when it's closed. another instance was when i turned my interior light on and my driver's side window worked, but stopped after i turned the car off. now it's been raining and my window is down and i need it up urgently. if someone has had a similar freaky problem like this that could help me out i would apreciate it. it's not the tracks or it getting stuck either. i tried searching and couldn't come up with anything, so i would apreciate your help HT.
thanks

Sounds like a cross-short in your wiring, likely between the body and door... They sometimes wear/crack and touch each other as the door gets used...
Also check the main switch on driver door for power.

and sometimes in the summer if you use your windows alot they motor can start to burn out a little, did it start going really slow and then stop? if so just let it sit for a couple hours and it should be fine

no this isn't the case

look at the harness going to the electric motor of the door. you'll have to take out the panels and plastic covering the holes. its pretty easy to take out the panel. only one plastic screw near the mirror and the screw to the door handle and another by the emplty space handle, then rip off the door and you'll see it.

i just took the door panel off and started ******* around, i looked for any wires that may be exposed or touching each other and no dice. i cleaned out the male and female plugs to the window switch and no dice.
it's weird, when my door is closed the front passenger and rear passenger window will work, but NOT from my switch. when the door is closed it won't work. also my power door locks won't work.
i don't know how the front driver's side window went down one day and BAM, didn't come back up again. this is really starting to **** me off and if i can't fix it, a mechanic will charge me out the *** to check it out....
here's a longshot but do you guys think it could be the main relay? the car sometimes has trouble starting........it'll take like 5-7 cranks even more until it finally fires up. could a bad main relay cause all this freaky wiring?
hope you guys can help me

judging by your symptoms, i'd have to guess that your master switch has gone bad. most likely, the power cut off switch within the master switch that prevents power from reaching the other window switches.
it might just be an intermittent open when the temperature gets too hot, and the metal flexes and opens the contacts, or that when you close the doors, it may shock the switch contacts back into place.

thats what I was gonna mention also. It def. sounds like your switches have gone bad

Yup, if your other windows are working (which you didn't mention) but not from your switch, it is likely your master for the driver side, as they all route through that switch as well...
You don't know how to test to see if it is getting power?! Go get a test light, or a logic probe, or a DVOM and test the wiring going in to the switch while actuating it. Should have constant power going in, and switched out to the window motor as the switch is moved.

i don't know if you read it right, but they would work just not from my switch, and now none will work period from the drivers side master switch or their corresponding switch
his car was once my car and the problem is in the harness that pugs into the door. when installing components in the door i had to drill out a corner of the harness to run the wiring into the door clean, but wheni i did tat i cracked the clip on the harness, all you can do is buy and rewire a new harness, or just push it in once and a while and the connections are back
this is slightly off topic, but, If the window track was dry, or was making the window stick what lube would be used to losen it up? My passenger one has finally gotten that syndrome and can no longer power itself up on a regular basis depending on temperature and humidity
