2003 honda civic ex brakes
I got the question about the brakes. Honda civic 2003 Ex.
1: How to remove the drums from the brakes.
2: What are the best brake pads and rotors in the market for this type of car?
I wouldnt really like to spend much money for OE parts, what about Rebotes parts.
i need your advise on this.

what do you mean? You don't want rear brakes?
Or you want to have rear disc's? You would need to do a comversion off of an EP3 or RSX that came with rear disc stock.

This really depends on application. What you are going to be using it for.

Good parts cost good money, and sometimes OEM parts are the best even if you have to pay for them.

Are you just trying to remove the drum part to replace the shoes? Make sure your e-brake isn't on, if thats what you mean.

Re: 2003 honda civic ex brakes (Jon V)
sorry about 2x posting. that was a mistake.
No i dont want to completely change the rear brake systems. I tried to remove the drums off but couldnt figure out how to ( I am not a mechanic, i am trying to do this job by myself). Are there any screws in the back or is there anything holding it ? I am just trying to service the brakes.
thanks

I'm not 100% sure on your car, but on drums I've done before, the drum is only held on by the wheel, and with the wheel off the drum should just slide right off. If your ebrake is engaged though you probably won't be able to get it off, or will have a very hard time doing so. You might want to wait to hear from someone thats done it on your model before. But from my experiance, if the ebrake is off and it's being stubborn, a little whack with a rubber mallet will probably free it up.

Buy a manual for your particular car. Hels is the best at $70 or so, Haynes is next and Chilton is the least.
