Default Jackson Racing S/C Problem: Civic Si

A friend of mine swapped his car for a Civic Si w/ Jackson Racing S/C... hes gettin a new engine b/c the kid before blew his up and hes takin the s/c off.. when he took off the s/c there was a greasy paste on the chargers' rotors and also on the intake manifold part of it... jackson racing said that he needs to send it to them for "servicing"... is there any way to solve this problem by myself? jackson said they were going to clean and service it but if needed replace gaskets, bearings, oil in the oil reservoir.. etc.. any ideas/help?

the grey paste is usually from some sort of liquid sealant used at the blower to manifold inlet that has since melted into the blower. The screwed up thing is that jackson used to recommend using a liquid sealant a long time ago, but now they will not fix the blower under warranty if there is any evidence of liquid sealant being used.

Man, it's hard to tell what that stuff is. It looks like oil to me. Try cleaning it up with some Castrol Super Clean.

The rotors are covered in teflon. Once you get all of the gunk off, you'll be able to determine whether or not the gunk was some of the teflon or just oil.

That blower does not look stock. It looks like it has been modified similar to the way Endyn modifies them. That is a very pricey mod...definitely good for you if you plan on keeping it or selling it.

i think they still had the carter (oil) vent still on the air intake thats where the oil is coming from i gues, if there was any compression leak on that engine it blew the oil in youre intake but than the trhottlebody has to be full of oil also.

Probably crankcase oil coming back through the intake.

Clean the rotors off and see if the teflon is still on them.

I'm betting its fine.

Invest in a catch can before putting it back on after cleanup.
