Nope.
Nope.
The JDM oil cap is polished steel cover on top of a plastic cap. It's not aluminum.

I HAVE heard of that happening.
Just goes to show that the Mugen oil cap is not total bling!

I remember reading the recommended service postings for my Altima in the Nissan forums and as a practice the dealer replaces the plastic oil cap every 60,000 miles.
I broke mine. It was on there extremely tight, and i really did not feel like twisting on that thing for 5 mintes, so i hit the side with a hammer to get it started. I guess i did it too hard and hit it just right as the whole top of the cap broke off, leaving the threaded botom still in the valve cover. It was another adventure trying to get it out. Few things i learned that day.
1. Dont try to add oil when you have no patience
2. Hammers and OEM plastic oil caps shouldnt meet.
3. Dont crank down the oil cap after adding oil.

I have heard from mulitple race teams (Grand-Am and others) of the top of the cap breaking off leaving the threaded portion in the valver cover while spewing oil all over the place.
Even w/p the use of a pipe wrench or hammer.
Just seems that the expansion coefficient of metal is greater than that od plastic!

Why is everything so cheap in the US cars? Now I have to buy a JDM cap. Has anyone had the plastic cap break?
