Default Accord VS. TSX

Question:

Are the computer chip and exhaust manifold the ONLY diff. between the 03/04 Accords and the TSX that amount in the increased horsepower for the TSX? Anybody know this for sure? and if one were to just install these parts on the Accord would it mess up anything? The reason I ask this is because the TSX has a 6-speed tranny vs. the Accord's 5-speed. Is the computer mated to the tranny as well? Or is this a separate computer?

I would greatly appreciate the info. Thanks

youd want a TSX computer......but the k24 in the accord is lower compression (i believe)....the cars also handle differently, because they are not the same car (though i believe the chasis is the same), and the tsx might have a more "sportier" suspension....

thanks, but how do you change the compression ratio (yes, I'm a newb)? does it have to do with the computer? I'm mainly worried about the exhaust manifold and the difference in transmissions between the two cars. Would it matter?

the TSX is a JDM accord and i doubt it is built on the same platform as the USDM accords since the last accord to be like that was the 5th gens.

my guess is that the accord K24 and the TSX K24 is like the SI/RSX K20 v. RSX-S K20. besides higher compression the more powerful motor they also incorporate a more performance orientated form of VTEC.

the higher compression is from the pistons.

a manual tranny is not effected by the ECU.

Wow thanks! Yeah I'm pretty sure that the A-spec Accord is a bit longer and wider as far as the chassis goes.

Are those bigger pistons that are in the TSX? What else would have to be modified to fit the pistons into the A-spec K24? And is the exhaust manifold completely swapable?

k series respond very well to bolt ons, and to be honest, those chages would be VERY expensive (have to be purchased directly from honda dealership)....though the 6spd tranny is a good way to go....why not just look for a totaled TSX, and just swap the entire engine

Haha, not that rich yet.

I'm debating if these parts would make my perfomance increase noticable. I want to increase the torque in my accord staring from th ground up., like with the block, pistons and other stuff like that. Would it cost less just to have a custom shop do work like this? And could their work out-do the TSX parts for a cheaper tag?

Has anyone driven the TSX and actually FELT the increased power compareed to the accord? Is the TSX engine pretty much set to have some bolt-ons installed opposed to ground-work?

honestly your best bet is to trade/sell your car for a TSX or maybe even a V6 6sp coupe.

yeah, but I'm a sedan guy who like the look of the 4-door A-spec accords opposed to the tsx. I'm just trying to find away to match the specs of the TSX's engine.

read the http://www.vtec.net article on Accord vs. TSX. Very informative

The 2004 accord responds very well to bolt-ons....esp. cold-air intakes...

5-17-04 <== j00 is a newb

the reason A Spec isnt a good idea, is that makes it appear like its some extra package, like the new/concept Acura TL A-Spec.....
