Exhaust Question
I am building my exhaust system and have chosen the Spoon Axle Back portion and the JDM ITR 4-1 Headers which I am going to port and polish. Wanted to know about getting a B-Pipe though. IMO, the Spoon one is way overpriced and I'm not sure if the stock ITR B-Pipe delivers as much as the headers do. I already used the search and nothing came up.
I have a 2000 GS.
Thanks
Edit- Yeh I messed up on the Port and Polish thing. My B.

that would be HEADER, not headers. you say you are going to port and polish the header?
uh...ok good luck with that. and i hope you know that the jdm header isn't goin to bolt right up to your cat. the jdm header is .25" larger than USDM

Hey, i have the spoon n1 paired with a type one b-pipe and toda header...they work well together. The piping hangs low on my gsr though, but with a little modification, it sits up higher. I'm recommending the type one b-pipe with spoon n1...and if you wanna spend some extra money, go with the toda header as well. Pics of my setup are in my signature (the link next to my piece).

type one is spoon sports' garage... they are also across the street from each other.. website.. http://www.typeone.jp
from lookin at the website type one doesnt sell bpipes... unless they've released their own brand lineup..
i checked 99gsr1980's pictures.. and that is a spoon bpipe(60.5mm)... EG spoon pipes are only polished at the presilencer.. itr bpipes are entirely polished (bling bling factor)
u can have any exhaust shop make u piping for cheap.. but it definetly won't be as pretty...

You are incorrect. My b-pipe is most def type one. It says type one on the b-pipe. I bought it from mike m at ips racing. It came in a type one box as well. Please don't tell me what parts i have on my car. Go here: http://www.ipsracing.com/engin....html...read under b-pipe applications.

definitely got more ***** than me(yea i'm not a guy either).. same design different material.. spoon piping is made out of stainless steel.. and unless u didnt read.. i directly stated..
"unless they've released their own brand lineup.. "
type one is using titanium.. which is lightweight.. but how easily does it bend? i had a titanium n1 before.. and that thing was pretty soft metal.. cuz i wont sacrifice durability over performance.. speedbumps and retard rabbits that jump out in the middle of the road can own both oil pans and piping...

i'm not saying dont buy it.. i'm just implying that when u purchase things u have to make sure to look at both sides of the coin.. to make sure the choices you make are informed and real world focused.. (this is a good topic for discussion)
for example.. what if u bought a cheap exhaust that you thought had great power gains.. and all of a sudden a year later the salt and rust ate through it.. or the speedbumps and road rocks dented it all up.. there are great parts out there and different driving conditions for anyone.. then again not everyone has a rallly race course going to and from home..

i'm having my friend call type one's japan for me.. cuz he's orders parts for companies in the us.. (my buddy says "maybe type one you are talking about (typeone.jp)... and type one she is talking about the one in the ips site.. might be different.. it could be that there is some taiwanese brand called type one, copying after the spoon's garage type one")
yo 99gsr1980.. did the box have the black and orange square type one logo on it?
cuz the type one piping is 63mm and titanium.. hm.. the investigation goes on..

Are you really going to be that petty? I'm sure Staci knew what she got when she ordered it. I have seen the car, and I know she has a Type One.

ya i know she def. has Type One also...i've seen/driven the car...and have seen the box the b pipe came in...and it def. said Type One...."made in JAPAN" and its def. not titanium!!!
i'm not saying its not a "type one" piping.. i'm implying that that type one isn't the type one in japan.. cuz type one in japan, as far as i knoe is only a install test garage...
staci's type one-> http://www.typeoneracing.com
different logo.. different company...
japanese type one -> http://www.typeone.jp
the link staci gave us says
"Type One Axle Back
Extremely lightweight axle back exhaust system. Features titanium tip. Includes silencer. All piping is 63mm"
now that i look it doesnt say its "titanium piping".. sorry i didn't read closely enough.. all i saw was system .. last i know a "exhaust system" isnt just the canister.. ok.. so is it the exhaust systeam that is Ti.. or only the axle back... they should reposition that phrase under the picture.. as it is misleading to the average eye..
it should read.. extremely lightweight axle back canister... not exhaust system..

Actually, porting the JDM ITR header is possible. In fact its recommended due to the JDM ITR header's poor weld quality at the head flange and relatively small collector exit size. Even though the outside of the collector does measure 2.5".....the actual inner diameter (what really counts) is only 2.1"

Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to jump on those who are new to this hobby.

Yeh I thought it was possible to port and polish the ITR header. I did some research and know someone who had done it to their ITR and used the Spoon Axle Back as well. Although I don't know what his B-Pipe was. I've been tuning my Integra for a year and the one thing I've learned is check, double check, and check again.

Thanks for the recommendation. My only question is if the Cost of the ITR header and it being ported and polished would outweight the cost of a Toda Unit? Anyone know this? And as far as the B-Pipe goes, I'm diggin' that Type 1, its sick. However, would it be cheaper to get a custom made B-Pipe? I'm in the midst of a transmission conversion and it seems like I'm always buying something else. My goal is a good, well breathing, streetable exhaust. Not necessarily all track oriented, definately country road racing though
Thanks for all the help so far. Keep the recommendations coming as well as any insight on my options mentioned above.

I'm sure you could find something cheaper that does the same thing...there always is. I don't know how much it would cost to doctor a header compared to the cost of the toda header (~1000). Good luck with everything.

If you are going all motor, I would recommend something high end like the Toda, Comptech, etc. The Toda is a very nice piece. If you have the money for it, I would highly recommend. it.
