For a second, I heard Darwin called my name......
I was doing the alignment on my race car and the jam nut on the right tie rod is STUCK. Since I'm working on jack stands, it was really hard to get a good grip on the wrench.
As I was frustrated and helpless, I heard Darwin called me name...... and he gave me an idea.
First I zip-tie the wrench to the nut:
Look further down, there's a hook attached to it:
What's the other end of the rope attached to?

A 91 Si hatch:
My driveway is sloped so all I did was release the handbrake on the Si. Before I attempted this idea, I kept having terrible mental pictures of what would happen. ie. race car slides off the jack stands, wrench slips and bends other suspension parts, ***** tie rod, etc etc.
The result? There was a loud pop and the nut broke loose.
Thanks Darwin for the idea and I'm glad that I didn't have to meet him.

Noice............i have frequently done that, where you debate on whether or not your "great idea" is really so great or not!
I even bought the damn "ball joint puller" tool, and that just mangled the hell out of it.
