will an obd1 distributor work with a d16a1 ecu?
i need to replace my d16a6 distributor that is attached to a d16z6 head. i'd like to get a d16z6 distributor so that it actually bolts up correctly and i dont have to screw around with mickey mousing it on there. will the obd1 distrib work with my d16a1 ecu (or d16a6 ecu)? also, im pretty sure my d16a6 harness wont match to the obd1 distrib connecs. are the wires identical so i can cut and splice?

Nope it won't work even if you change the plugs. The non-OBD distributor is a 16 tooth and the OBD 1 distributor is a 24 tooth unit. You have to keep the ECU with the correct distributor.
blah. ok. the car is definitely exhibiting some probs. the tach stays at 2000rpm when idle and the tach needle is "lazy". i'll accelerate in a linear acceleration and it'll go up slowly and then jump quickly around 4-5000 rpm. the idle is somewhat rough and tonight it died on me a couple times when decelerating and shifting into 1st, but the curious thing is the tach dropped to idle. not all the way down to zero, even when the car had shut itself off. btw it didn't start for a day and a half..jus turned over and never caught, until i checked for spark on the #1 cylinder, and it fired right up.
