I NEED HELP WITH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1990 CIVIC DX
I was driving along the highway, when the car just shut off.
I checked everthing and found that there was no sparking taking place.
I then took the coil to autozone and had it checked, nothing wrong there. I then checked for power coming into the distributor and I believe that the problem lies there.
My question is this: are both plugs coming into the distributor supposed to carry voltage because I checked the one plug with the 2 wires (blue & yellow-black) and one of them had power now the second plug had (white, white-blue, orange, orange-blue, and again white) none of these wires had voltage when I checked and I was told that one of the whites has to have current. So where does that wire(if its supposed to have voltage) come from?
basically do Both plugs leading to the distributor have at least one wire that carries voltage?, cause on my car right now only the 2wire plug(black-yellow & blue) has voltage.
it is not the coil and not the igniter. I checked the coil at autozone. and I now put in a whole new distributor. I think its not getting power. The two wire plug is the only one with voltage. I would just like to know which of the wires(color wise) from the sqaure plug is supposed to bring the voltage to the distributor?
I was told by a mechanic that the problem might be the car's computer. But I rather get a second opinion before having to pay to diagnose the problem.
The colors of the wires are white, white-blue, orange,orange-blue, and another white wire which runs outside alongside of the rest but they are all connected to the square plug.
could the problem be the ECU?
thanks in advance.
