Front vs Rear Track Tire Wear
I was just wondering how much longer track tires wear on the ITR rear vs the front when used on the racetrack - twice as long? Three times as long? Five times as long?
I've been rotating my track tires, always using the ones with more tread on the front, so they wear evenly, as a set. So as a result, I have no idea how much longer the rears last.
TIA...
I find it depends on the track surface and layout, alignment, tire compound, tire pressures, ambient temperatures and driving style.
On some tracks I get even tire wear - others wear the fronts like mad.
Rotating tires is best to even out things - that's what I do - but its not perfect.
I would agree with Wai's estimate esp considering he's running a wider front tire.

I totally agree with this
I think alignment and suspension setup play the heaviest in this department.
But I mark and rotate my tires Every track day or days. The wear rate has been pretty even thus far with the rears usually just picking up loads of rubber at the end of hot sessions.
Also, on tracks Like Limerock where it is predominantly right turns mixed with crazy compression, I can even get more wear on my drivers side alone.
Between all of us though we're probably talking about several different compounds, setups and driving styles/experience.
