Good Place to Buy Affordable Helmets?
I'm looking for a basic helmet, nothing too crazy. Anyone have any good experiences with helmet vendors they'd like to share? I'm not looking to spend too much, just something i can use 3-4 times a year at local club events.
Thanks in advance, any info helps.

https://honda-tech.com/zerosearch - search for 'helmet' there was a recent post with a list of suppliers.
I go to http://www.ogracing.com , they're local to me.

Its all up to what fits you best, you will probably need to try on several helmets before you find one you're comfortable in.
I've got a Bell M2 Pro, and its fantastic. The 'Pro' is a bit lighter and comes in more sizes (head sizes rather than M, L, XL) so you can get a better fit. I've done alot of events this year, and having a good helmet is worth it.

The recent topic on helmets is here:

Most of it was about which rating is acceptable - SA rated helmets are the ones made for automotive events - but there are also comments about the need to try a helmet on in person to find one that fits comfortably.
In that topic, there is a note about open face SA2000 helmets for $139 on closeout. If you don't care what kind of helmet you get - if it's one you might find uncomfortable to wear - then that might do. But it's worth noting that a lot of folks just get the cheapest thing they can, and then regret it later when they do more and more track events. If you think that might happen, then it's worth spending more and getting one locally, at a place where you can try different helmets on.
I see you are in the Chicago area. Two places around here that stock SA rated helmets are Northstar Motorsports in Barrington, and DRE/Wrep in Streamwood.

Thanks, well I definitely want something that is light so I don't feel like a bobble head but most importantly like you said, it has to be comfortable and fit well.
I need to find a local shop to try some on.... does anyone know of a good shop in the Central Florida area?

If you can go somewhere and try on a helmet it really is better. Not all fit the same for a given size. For a basic helmet HJC is good for autocross. If I was doing track stuff I would want a helmet with better protection.
