Default B18C5 Head on GSR bottom

I need some opinions. Has anyone put a ITR head on a GSR bottom? How much should a stock Type R cost? How much power gain is expected from the head swap alone? I have a 95 GSR motor with PR3 pistons which is running a 11.5 compression ratio. I know that the Type R head will lower my compression but does anyone know by how much? Would it worth while to buy a Type R head and do the swap?

Thanks!!!

the head lowers the compression .2. The head should cost you 1000. the comp should be around 11.2.

I did this exact swap for my '95 FI EJ. I believe the complete head (ACURA cost) is $1100. It comes with the 2001 cams too. Because of the bigger combustion chamber, it will lower your compression ratio ~.2-.3 so performance might actually be hampered. You could always buy a head gasket to bring the compression back up though

when you buy the head from acura, it doesnt come ported. they only hand port the heads on the integra type r production cars. also for reference, a guy i know used an itr head cams etc, everything tuned, put down 175 to the wheels with gsr pistons. this was with all bolt ons and vafc tuned. but if i were you, try and find a used itr head.

Hey, quick108 are you satisfied with the results and do you think it is worth $1100 to get the head?

Thanks.

Definitely! It's awesome having a brand new head, especially on a '95. The bolts are shiny gold, the cast aluminum is super clean, and you get the 2001 cams. Plus you know everything is in perfect working order. I got it from Mike K @ Naples Acura.

Check out hybrid.honda-perf.org, they have a little article on swapping a ITR head onto a gsr bottom.

you think, or you know. i know that when you go to acura to buy a brand new itr head, they dont port it. they only port the heads that go on the production integra type R. so basically, you get an si head with itr internals, still good, but no port.
