Default Auto-x Pics from Assult Landing Craft Unit 4 (ACU-4)

Tidewater Sports Car Club held an event at the coveted Assault Landing Craft Unit 4 (ACU4) on the Little Creek Amphibious base in Virginia Beach, VA. It is a beautiful stretch of well maintained concrete pads overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.

Looks like an off course might get you a little wet.

The runoff area is a little deceiving. It looks like you would go right into the water, but after the end of the concrete there is a beachfront that slopes down to allow access for the hovercrafts. Still, it is a little spooky the first time you go in that direction.

Great pic of my dads CRX and your Civic infront of the hovercraft.

The course layout yesterday was a true horsepower setup. A quick turn around and a straight to another turnaround and so on and so on to a long 3rd gear straight to a 90deg to a straight to finish.

I blew my 2nd run by running out of gas, and lost it on my 4th when I shiffed into 2nd too late a blew the corner. Oh well I beat MaxQ and I didnt even get to walk the course.

I cant wait for the SEDIV at the end of August

I'm curious.....

I see HS on the hatchback. Is it really stock? It looks lowered a bit.

H5 not HS. Also note the ITA designation, it's a road-race car

Heh, I wonder why didn't you mention the margin of victory there, buddy... That was some nice driving for not walking it!

Car drove like crap yesterday. So beautiful loose 3 weeks ago, so disappointingly pushy yesterday.

I had a good time despite that though.

I was wondering how an ITA car could be "stock".

Thanks

It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile...oh never mind.

Good observation, it is my car. I was too lazy to get the CSP car ready for the event.

I'm interested in the fact that you got access to a base for motorsports. We were having conversations about using them for a rallycross venue but pretty much figured that post-9/11 security would shut that option down. Did you have an inside track to decision makers on this deal?

We have a few military people who run with us on a regular basis, some of whom have a little bit of pull. We have been using military bases longer than I have been running (9 yrs). Recent events has required being on an access list and ID checks at the gates. Tidewater Sports Car Club has a very good reputation with the bases. The ACU-4 site is a recent addition and did require authorization from the higher level base commanders.

It also doesn't hurt that the CO has a 993 which he autoxes regularly.
