Is it ok to wax and buff carbon fiber parts? Thanks for the help

I got a friend at work that waxed his cf hood. It left huge marks. He ended up getting a new one.

 

If your carbon fiber hood has clearcoat you should be fine. If it has a gel coat, do not wax it.

Who makes your CF hood?

 

Thanx for the help ... I'm pretty sure it has a clear coat, so maybe I'll try a little spot and see the results before I do the rest of it.

 

Don't do it, Cause if it is gel coated, that one little spot will always be noticable to you.

 

There was a thread about the type of wax you should use just a few days ago.

 

yeah, there is a certain polish for carbon-fiber hoods/parts. im not sure what it is called but i had a bottle of it from one of my customers and used it on his hood and wow.!!! it looked better than it ever did before. i will try and get the name of it for ya.

 

I have a VIS hood (clear coated from them) and I use 3M Wax on it and I have no problems at all.

It's in a grey bottle and it's in liquid form.
