Depends on who is tuning your car?

If you have an experienced/reputable tuner for uberdata in your area then thats what I suggest. Its free basically and all you gotta pay for is tuning. Saves you a shitload, plus there is quite a bit of help for it available on there forums and here on honda-tech. Hondata is basically the same thing except be expected to fork out **** loads of cash.

Uberdata. ....thats my engine management in my 95 GSR turbo

for beginners and people who know nothing about uberdata/hondata...

alot of people really think that going the uberdata route is free.. this is not true.. the program itself is free... however you gotta realize theres more to it then just "going with uberdata."

For people who dont know about uberdata and dont know **** about fuel management they need to know that theres certain things they will need which add up to quite a bit. Heres a list of the things you will NEED if you go with uberdata and decide to learn to tune yourself

Laptop - If you have one, great ... if not either by one or borrow one.
Wide-band O2 sensor with gauge or some sort of display - 400 - 500 bucks
Larger injectors - 200-300 bucks
Upgraded fuel pump - 100-200 bucks
upgraded Fuel pressure regulator - 100-300 bucks (AEM = expensive)
Chipped and socketed ECU - if you are OBD2 you will need an OBD1 ecu and a harness... say around 100-200 for the ecu - chipping from a pro if you dont wanna do it yourself can cost around 60- 80 bucks.. Harness = @ 100 bucks
Chip burner - 100-200 bucks
Dyno Tune OR street tune. $$$-$$$$

As you can see.. if you know jack **** about engine management, and you have searched around for engine management, and someone posts "going uberdata is cheap and free" this is bullshit. Cheap? not really ..cheapER then hondata? Perhaps.. They both do essentially the same thing.. Just the PROGRAM is what your essentially paying for when you Purchase the hondata interface.. its legallity issues for piracy.. Uberdata the program itself = free.. however if your planning on going with it you will need much more then just the program...

This is pretty much common knowledge for people with experience, so if you know about this please do not say "ya we know already" type ****.. this is a post for noobs only.

Phiz would be tuning my car, i hear lots of good things about him. i think uberdata is the way to go also..i ordered RC550's so i dont need a resistor box. and i am going to pickup the ECU sometime soon form Phiz. its almost time to install, ill post back up with lots of pics of the install and the outcome. thanks guys

I can argue....for uberdata. 65 bucks for my burner(willem) 85 bucks for my walbro 255lph fuel pump. 40 bucks for my DSM 450cc injectors, 4 bucks for inline resistors for the injectors. ...don't need a fuel pressure regulator and 1 free 29c256(hondata's own) rewritable chip from J337_UNIT. the standard 27c256 chips are not rewritable but they are pretty cheap. Tuning...I'll try myself with my EGT. If not. I'll either blow something up or just take it to get it dyno tuned after I realize its running like ****. I'm doing the ECU myself...its not hard if you have a steady hand. desoldering and resoldering isn't too bad, just have to becareful.

I went this route...because I feel I can do it all myself, or with the help of many many knowledgeable friends and family that have dealt with this kind of thing their entire life, and not to mention its cheaper...hondata you still need injectors, you still need a fuel pump(maybe) you still get tuned with a wideband o2, and you still need the ECU to get some work done.

Basically...65 bucks for my burner. One free chip from a great guy. and the rest I would of had to buy anyway... Hondata is alot safer, and alot of people(tuners) know how it works alot better than say Uberdata...but thats a risk I'm willing to take. I'll let you everybody how it goes when I get it all together. Hope this helped somewhat.
