mrd300 enough to power 12" alpine type r sub?
hey guys, i'm thinking of getting a 12" alpine type r sub and an alpine mrd-m300 amp with a sealed box. i don't need slamming bass i just actually wanna hear it because my boston acoustics components don't have much of it. would this be a good enough combination for my setup? if not, could u give me some advice on what i should get and whatnot. thanks.
here are the links to what i'm thinking of getting....
alpine type r sub
alpine mrd-m300 amp

alpine mrd-m300 amp
that link doesnt show the specs for the amp
i had a mrv1005 on 2 cvrs at 2ohm and they pounded but, i think you might want more power if it only pushes 300rms

what is the sub rated at? and what ohm coils? if its a dvc 2ohm coil that amp doesn't look 1ohm stable, and at 4ohm it straight sucks at power, look at something more powerful just my opinion...

yes it does matter...
DVC 2 ohm you can only wire to 1 or 4 ohm load
DVC 4 ohm you can only wire to 2 or 8 ohm load
you have the DVC 4 ohm so i suggest you wire it to 2 ohms. you want it in a sealed enclosure and although thatll make it nice and clean, ur not gonna hear it. u need to OVERPOWER a sub in a sealed enclosure because the fact its a sealed enclosure makes it harder to produce more SPL. you might want to look into an MRD-M500. i have that amp and im gettin a 10" type r DVC 4 ohm. itll be about 400-500 watts RMS to a 300RMS sub in a sealed enclosure. it shouldnt be too loud and it should sound pretty clean, we will see
hope this helps you a lil.

that sounds MUCH better than the 300
