Default B20B/VTEC PROJECT

My ITR is in the middle of a B20B block/B18C-R head project. I believe you guys call it Frankenstein or CR-VTEC.

I'm having the head fully ported & polished, throttle body overbored, intake manifold ported, block(bottom end) fully balanced & lightened, compression to be at 11.6:1, 330cc injectors, bigger fuel pump, conversion to OBD1 with custom chip, upgraded oil pressure hose & adaptor.

I'm planning to run the above with my Crower 63402 cams with Spoon pulleys, Jun racing valve-springs, Exedy 3-puck clutch, Apexi power intake, 2.5" exhaust system with JDM 4-2-1 & HKS Super Drager muffler.

Guys, what kind of power can I claim from the above set-up? What is the max WHP & torque? When(rpm) does the max WHP & torque comes? My VTEC cross-over should be at 6200rpm, so how high can I rev ?

I know it's impossible to predict exactly, but just give me a rough idea. All replys & comments are welcome.

Bryan

Think seriously about your bottom end if you want to REV sky high. At least shotpeen the rods or use an aftermarket set. http://www.theoldone.com would be an ideal place to visit for more info about the CRVTEC.

As I understand, the max torque & whp comes quite early, which means I don't have to rev too high to get max power. And the higher the rev, the sooner you kill your engine, right. Well at least that's what I'm made to believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for the link though, will check it out.

Get some Eagle rods and some Pistons (JE or Endyn)..also a girdle.
You will be able to rev to 8500 without worries.

why dont you tune your car before you get yoru heart set on your vtec corssover. rember here, tuning is the sky, the skys the limit, well not really but id say you should beable to reach somewhere around 220 or so give or take 6ponies or so. good luck with it all.

I'll be very happy if I can reach 220 whp. But what about the torque? What should I expect? When should it come(rpm)?

My mechanic says at least 210whp and 19 torque. What do you think? Will this set-up blows-up easily. Its my daily driver.

1x9 torque? 190 torque? if 190 that's some good crack he's smoking.

Like HX_Guy said, replace those rods and pistons.

Question is can you raod race with this setup? Dragging sounds fine, but if you're up in the high rpms for 20+ mins on the track will it be reliable? Just wondering if anyone knows since I might be looking into this setup as well.

Road racing is where the real abuse on the motors is.

Make sure its stout! Pistons, rods, GIRDLE..and possibly oil squirters.

actually, I was driving that thing around the other nite. I hit 9500 RPM about a good 30 times in 10 minutes.

All I have to say on the matter of reliability is, its VERY reliable.

because we built it. When I shift into 2nd gear at 9500 RPM the tech jumps to the rev limiter of 9700 and HANGS there for a complete second, until the yokohama A032R's grab and it goes down to 9,000, then back up to 9500 in a blink of an eye, where 3rd gear is met, again, the rev limiter is hit because the street tires cant hold on....then back down to about 8200 and up to 100+ MPH.

reliability is definitly what it is. And its not even sleeved! stock sleeves.

BTW, I think your above setup will make about 190-195 WHP.

3 days ago, we made 214+ at the wheels in our new B20 buildup with ONLY a DC header and Type-R cams.

We put the JUN's and the JG full race header on, bam 235+ in an instant.

header + JUN 3's = a good 20 HP at the wheels peak. and at 9,000 RPM its over 35 HP at the wheels VS DC 4-1 and Type-R cams.

If you need help with your setup, I would be glad to help you save money and make bigger HP. E-mail me and I help you.

crvtec.com is helpful also. Rasmus is cool. Met him last week. Tell him Jeff said sup.

Jeff
